Where are we in RWE? –

The best relevant RWD source needs to be decided depending on the research question. However, we still need some standard RWE frameworks, particularly when it comes to the data from Digital Health technologies considering their significant role in generating RWD.

Concato J et al. have shared some interesting points about the current situation of RWE including addressing two common misconceptions about RWE and RWD; 1. RWD and RWE are new concepts., 2. The dichotomy between RCTs and observational studies explains the entire landscape of study design. Their article, “Real-World Evidence – Where Are We Now?”, was published in the New England Journal of Medicine on May 5, 2022.
